The Qatari offers Toyota and Jean-Marc Fortin’s team a second gold medal on the Dakar.
With only 164 km against the clock for the last day of the Dakar 2022, it would have taken a real stroke of bad luck for Nasser Al-Attiyah to see his 4th victory on the Dakar fly away. But from Bisha to the Jeddah Corniche where the final podium was, nothing and no one came to hinder the road of the experienced Qatari.
Al-Attiyah therefore passes the 4th on the most famous of rally-raids, he who had already won in 2011 (VW), 2015 (Mini) and 2019 (Toyota). This 4th success was not the most difficult to obtain for the smiling Nasser who skilfully took advantage of the tiles having overwhelmed the competition. If the new machines of the T1 + category were not overwhelmed by worries with the exception of the Audis, it was above all the mistakes and the lack of audacity of the opponents of Al-Attiyah that made the difference.
