The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco, once again asked his peers to contribute with the solemnity that this legislative body should have.
When interrupting a turn of the deputy of the People’s Force for La Romana, Eduard Alexis Espíritu Santos, during the session this Tuesday, Pacheco acknowledged that for a few weeks “we have been letting go.”
“I want to call with affection, with love, so that the deputies understand that this body requires a level of solemnity so that we can legislate calmly,” he said.
“I’m saying it very quietly … we have to understand that we are in session. That the whole world is looking here and sometimes it is not healthy for a colleague to be speaking and that we seem to not even hear each other, ”he said.
He admitted that there are 190 legislators and that it is not healthy for him to be required to remain completely silent but he insisted on acting with the utmost respect in front of the other deputies.
He specified that in this way while his colleagues exhaust a shift, when they move or dialogue they must do so “with the greatest respect in the world” and with a certain level of attention to make the sessions more productive.
He recalled how difficult it is to be a legislator and also how difficult it is to be able to have a turn during ordinary sessions.
He stressed that his exhortation “is a way to help them and help the body, the (legislative) body so that the citizens can observe us in the best way.”
