Verdão has a chance to regain confidence against clubs that are bad on the table
Palmeiras comes from a negative sequence in the Brazilian Championship, without winning for four. The team lost the second position to Flamengo, distanced itself 14 points from the leader Atlético-MG and, after losing to Bragantino, saw the walls of Allianz Parque dawn graffiti with protests against the cast, directors and coach.
Abel Ferreira’s team will now have, however, a good sequence of games to try to recover in the competition and regain the confidence of the fans. In the next four rounds, Verdão will face three teams that currently occupy the relegation zone: Bahia, Sport and Grêmio.
The confrontation against Bahia, in 17th place, is already this Tuesday (12), at 9:30 pm, away from home. This weekend, on Sunday, the only one of the four games that is not against any Z4 team: duel against Internacional, in seventh place – three points behind Alviverde -, at Allianz Parque, at 4 pm.
In the 28th round, again at home, Abel and his team members receive Sport, 18th place, at 9pm. Finally, on the 31st of this month, the match is against Grêmio, second from the bottom, in Rio Grande do Sul, at 4 pm. After this sequence, Verdão still faces Santos, in a classic at Vila Belmiro. Peixe left the relegation zone on Sunday (10), but is still 16th.
Palmeiras is third in the Brazilian Championship table, with 39 points – three less than Flamengo, vice-leader, and 14 behind Atlético-MG, leader, who has 53. In 24 games, the São Paulo team has 12 victories, three draws and nine defeats.
