Paolo Guerrero rules out playing next season at Alianza Lima

Lima, Nov 24 (EFE).- Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero ruled out on Wednesday playing next season at Alianza Lima, the club where he trained as a player despite not making his debut in the first team.

Guerrero, 37, reiterated that he is a fan of Alianza “to death”, but pointed out that he is still not in his plans to return to Matute despite having the possibility of sharing the blue and white wardrobe with Jefferson Farfán, his childhood friend .

The striker has been without a team since October after having terminated his contract with the Brazilian International and has not yet decided what he will do next season.

“What I want most is not to have problems next year and play all the games I can,” Guerrero said on Wednesday after leaving the facilities of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), where he goes daily to recover from his problems on your knees.

The Peruvian footballer has not managed to recover optimally from a torn anterior cruciate ligament that he suffered in August 2020, from which he has suffered several relapses.

The last match he played was with the Peruvian team in October against Chile in the South American qualifying qualifying rounds for the World Cup but, after that match, he regretted that his knee is not letting him play.

For this reason, Guerrero also ruled out the possibility of being fit to be called up to Peru’s next qualifying matches against Colombia and Ecuador, scheduled for late January and early February, respectively.

«My recovery is at a calm but steady pace. It is clear that this year I am no longer going to play and I have to prepare myself so that I do not have any more problems. My plan is to make my recovery in Lima, “said the attacker.

Guerrero is the captain and historical top scorer of the Peruvian national team, but he never played in the first division of Peru, since from the lower divisions of Alianza he went directly to Bayern Munich.
