According to news portal Vatican News, a critically ill girl in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires turned to the late Pope in 2011 and healed her afterwards. The initiative would have been based on a parish. A miracle is a prerequisite for beatification.

It is still unclear when exactly the beatification will take place. Pope Francis must set a deadline for this. Pope John Paul I died unexpectedly on September 28, 1978 at the age of 65. His cause of death has never been fully explained. The pontificate of the Sicilian Albino Luciani thus came to an end after only 33 days. It was one of the shortest in history.
