The President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis meets today at the Presidential Palace with the High Commissioner of Britain Steven Lily.
The meeting will be in private and is expected to take place before the meeting of the Council of Ministers scheduled for 09:30.
The two sides are expected to discuss the ideas put forward by the British side for the resumption of negotiations on the Cyprus issue.
It is recalled that in an interview with the newspaper “Kathimerini” last Sunday, Mr. Lily referred to the content of the British initiatives in the Cyprus issue and said, among other things, that they are discussing a decentralized federation, which is an idea submitted by President Anastasiadis himself. He also noted that Britain does not support a two-state solution in Cyprus.
