Prosecutor calls for preventive detention for Peruvian candidate Keiko Fujimori

Prosecutor José Domingo Pérez, a member of the Lava Jato special team, requested this Thursday to revoke the subpoena with restrictions that was issued against the Peruvian candidate Keiko Fujimori and that preventive detention be issued against him for having failed to comply with judicial decisions.

In the document sent to Judge Víctor Zúñiga Urday, the prosecutor maintains that the candidate for the Presidency by the Fuerza Popular party has breached the legal rules imposed while she is being investigated for a crime of money laundering, such as communicating with witnesses linked to the case of the alleged illegal contributions to their campaigns in 2011 and 2016.

“It has been determined again that the defendant Fujimori Higuchi breaches the restriction of not communicating with witnesses; Well, it has been noted as a public and well-known fact that he communicates with the witness Miguel Torres Morales, ”the text maintains. EFE
