The scenario of dissolution of the Legislative Assembly of the Azores and the scheduling of early regional elections was, in less than 24 hours, removed by virtually all political forces. After the leader of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, refused to present a motion of confidence to re-legitimize the PSD/CDS/PPM coalition after losing the parliamentary support of two deputies (Nuno Barata, from IL, and Carlos Furtado, an independent former Enough), no party, starting with the PS, risked waving a motion of censure, fearing a repeat in the archipelago of the result of last year’s early national elections, which resulted in an absolute socialist majority.
