The Évora Court of Appeal annulled convictions relating to the attack on Tancos and the operation mounted by the PJM and the GNR to recover the stolen weapons. The question of whether the so-called communications metadata – which include the day, time, duration, destination number and location of the devices used in a telephone call – can be used in criminal proceedings has overshadowed Justice in recent months and divided magistrates.
