The district elections enshrined in the Constitution of Mozambique are not expected to take place in 2024 because the party in power since independence wants to postpone them. President Filipe Nyusi even proposed a public debate on the feasibility of its implementation, taking into account the country’s financial difficulties, but his party, Frelimo, canceled debates on the subject in the Assembly.
