The Portuguese festivals Rock in Rio Lisboa, Neopop, Kalorama and Músicas do Mundo are some of the winners of the Iberian Festival Awards, awarded at a ceremony in Maia, district of Porto.
Promoted by the Associação Portuguesa de Festivals de Música, the Iberian Festival Awards aim to distinguish the best events in Portugal and Spain.
In a statement released today, the organization informs that Rock in Rio Lisboa won in the category of “biggest festival” and was also considered the event that most contributed to sustainability, while Neopop, dedicated to electronic music and taking place in Viana do Castelo , was distinguished in the medium-sized festival category.
Kalorama was recognized as the best new festival and the Festival Músicas do Mundo, which is divided between Porto Covo and Sines, as the best cultural program.
Among the other Portuguese awards are Artbeerfest Caminha and Revenge of the 90’s, as best non-musical festival and best festival indoor (in closed space), respectively.
Festival Med, which takes place in Loulé, was considered the best Portuguese-speaking and Hispanic festival, and also distinguished for the best tourist promotion. Fest4Kids was awarded as the best festival for young people.
Bons Sons, which takes place annually in the village of Cem Soldos, in the municipality of Tomar, was considered the Iberian festival that most contributed to equality and obtained the title of best welcome and reception at national level.
Amplifest, which presents itself as a multisensory experience and takes place in Porto, won the national award in the category of small festival. Also awarded in the same category was the Spanish festival 17th Ribeira Sacra.
Jardim Sonoro was distinguished for the best communication and marketing strategy, ArtCor for the best service offer, Prio for the best brand activation and Artbox VR for the best use of technology.
The Douro landscape, which hosts the Douro&Porto Wine Festival, was considered the best festival location, and the Festas do Mar, which take place in Cascais, the best festivity.
The best Iberian and international live concerts have taken place at Spanish festivals: C. Tangana, at Icónica Sevilla Fest, and Arctic Monkeys, at Cala Mijas.
The performances by Celina da Piedade, at the Festival Folk Celta (PT), and by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, at Meo Kalorama, were distinguished as the best at national level.
Sara Falcão was distinguished with the prize for best photography, for her work at the Summer Opening.
The 7th edition of the Iberian Festival Awards was part of Talkfest, which takes place in Maia and Lisbon until the 17th.
In this edition, the nominees were divided into 23 categories, to which were added two awards of excellence (entity and personality) and an award from the INATEL foundation, which was awarded to the band Expresso Transatlântico, formed by the brothers Sebastião and Gaspar Varela and by Rafael Matos .
