After a difficult start and a capricious Dakar, in which the drivers made a mistake on the one hand and were betrayed by the mechanics on the other hand, Audi already won its fourth stage on Friday. With a prologue and eleven stages, Audi still manages to win one stage out of three with a hybrid car. Sainz took the lead from Alvarez (Toyota) after 127 km and little by little got away from the competition.

First pursuer Sébastien Loeb finished second. The Frenchman takes 4’21” back on Nasser Al-Attiyah on Thursday. Loeb is 28’19” behind the leader in the standings. Al-Attiyah wins his fourth Dakar on Friday without incident, his first in Saudi Arabia. After victories in 2011, 2015 and 2019, the victory can no longer escape him this year. (Belgian)
