Salvador begins the application of Pfizer’s bivalent vaccine against Covid-19 in people aged 70 and over residing in the capital as of this Tuesday (28).
The expansion of the public happens due to the expectation of the arrival of new doses of the immunizer in the city in the coming days.
According to the city hall, in total, there will be another 128,319 people between 70 and 79 who will be qualified for the strategy.
In addition to people aged 70 or over, the first phase of the campaign includes immunocompromised people, quilombolas, people assisted in long-term institutions aged 12 years or over and the respective workers of these Reception Centers.
The expansion of priority groups will be staggered, according to the schedule of the Ministry of Health, and may be anticipated according to the availability of immunizers and the epidemiological situation.
Vaccination of quilombolas will be carried out on the Islands, according to local planning, and institutionalized people (sheltered people and health workers) will be carried out in the institutions to which they belong.
Immunocompromised people who did not start or who did not complete their primary (basic) scheme with the three doses of the monovalent covid-19 vaccine are able to receive a dose of the bivalent vaccine after the second dose of the monovalent vaccine.
The bivalent vaccine can be used to complete the primary scheme after a minimum interval of 8 weeks from the second monovalent dose. And the booster dose can also be performed with the bivalent with a minimum interval of 4 months from the last bivalent dose.
The immunization of this public will be carried out upon confirmation of the minimum indication criterion, which is having taken at least two doses of monovalent vaccines (Coronavirus, Astrazeneca/Fiocruz, Pfizer or Janssen) and a 4-month interval from the last dose received, which may be the two doses of the primary schedule or any booster dose.
In addition, it will be necessary to present an identification document with a photo, SUS card and confirmation of the name on the list on the SMS website.
The vaccination strategy also includes children aged 6 months to 4 years, 11 months and 29 days with or without comorbidities, in addition to vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 years old living in the capital of Bahia.
The immunization of children will be carried out upon presentation of the identification document of the child and parents and/or guardians, vaccination card, SUS card and confirmation of the name on the list on the SMS website.
In addition, the strategy continues with the application of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 for people aged 18 or over, in a “GENERAL RELEASED” scheme, regardless of being a resident of the municipality, that is, even not living in Salvador or not having taken the doses here, the citizen will be contemplated. The only requirement is to have the SUS card linked to a municipality in the state of Bahia.
The interested party must present originals and copies of the vaccination card or national digital vaccination card (updated CONECTSUS), identification document with photo and proof of residence in the municipality of the State of Bahia.
The other groups that are not included in the ‘Liberou Geral’ strategy must reside in Salvador and have their name listed on the Municipal Health Secretariat website.
Immunization also follows for individuals aged 18 years or older vaccinated with Janssen in the primary schedule. That is, following the guidance of Technical Note No. 177/2022-CGPNI/DEIDT/SVS/MS, which establishes that all individuals who received the Janssen vaccine (Single Dose) as a primary scheme, between 18 and 39 years of age, are instructed to receive a second booster, and all individuals aged 40 and over are advised to receive a third booster, matching the total amount of vaccines referring to other vaccination schedules with COVID-19 vaccines.
