O Santos will have another challenge ahead in search of rehabilitation in the Brazilian championship. For the 25th round of the Brasileirão, Peixe travels to Minas Gerais to face the leader Atlético-MG this Wednesday, at 7 pm, at Mineirão. A victory for Alvinegro Praia would be important for coach Fábio Carille and for the team, as it would be Peixe’s first positive sequence in the championship.

At first, in a survey by journalist Bruno Gutierrez, from GE, none of Santos’ six victories were consecutive. Examples abound: after beating Ceará, in the 2nd round, by 2-1, Santos had a tie against Juventude. On the second opportunity, Santos beat São Paulo 2-0 for the fifth round, but then tied with Grêmio 2-2, in Porto Alegre.

In a very irregular season, in which they struggled not to fall in the Campeonato Paulista and was eliminated in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores da América, Santos only managed to win two or three games in a row three times. The last sequence took place in June. For the 3rd round of the Copa do Brasil, Peixe won both duels against Cianorte (2-0 away from home and 1-0 at home) and between games, beat Ceará by 3-1, by Brasileirão.

For the match soon, the retrospective acting away from home is unfavorable: In 64 matches, there were 15 wins, 16 draws and 33 defeats. Santos’ last victory against Galo in Minas Gerais was in 2017. For the 13th round of the Brasileirão, Peixe won 1-0.
