DPA: In addition to EU sanctions, the transport of Russian oil by ship

The planned ban on Russian oil shipments will not be included – initially – in the next package of sanctions against Russia, according to a telegram from the German News Agency (DPA), citing EU sources.

Further coordination at international and G7 level is needed, the same sources told DPA, noting that Greece, Cyprus and Malta were primarily reacting to the move, fearing it would hurt their shipping companies. .

However, diplomatic sources point out that the ban on European companies insuring tankers carrying Russian oil is still part of the sanctions, which is estimated to make it difficult for Russia to supply oil to other countries.

As it is noted, it seems that the sanctions will not be put on the table on Wednesday at the meeting of the Permanent Representatives of the EU countries.
