Facebook Pay switches to Meta Pay, the new digital wallet of the metaverse

The CEO of Goal, mark zuckerberghas presented the company’s new digital wallet focused on the metaverse, Meta Pay, which will replace the current payment system of FacebookFacebookPay.

Facebook Pay is a payment platform through which you can make payments on Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenge servicesr without the need to exit these ‘apps’.

The company’s head of Commerce and Financial Technologies, Stephane Kasriel, announced in May that its current payment service would be renamed Meta Pay, without giving more details about this other platform.

What it did indicate then is that Meta was focused “on improving the payment experiences” of Facebook Pay and that it had the intention of improving the quality of the countries in which this service could already be used, instead of expanding “to new countries”.

This Wednesday Zuckerberg has presented Meta Pay as “a digital wallet for the metaverse” through his personal Facebook account, where he has confirmed that it will continue to offer the same functions as its predecessor.

“It will remain the same easy way to shop, send money, and donate to causes people care about on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and anywhere else Facebook Pay can be used,” he said.

With this, the manager has indicated that Meta is working on a novelty focused on the metaversea wallet that will allow you to securely manage your identity, money and the way you pay with it.

“In the future there will be all kinds of digital objects that you will want to create or buy: digital clothing, art, videos, music, experiences, virtual events and much more”, he underlined.

Likewise, he has assured that the company seeks to offer these possessions “in any experience of the metaverse”, so that users have at their disposal in one place everything that they have been acquiring in this digital environment.

Thanks to this interoperability, Meta hopes to offer better experiences for users, as well as greater opportunities for creators.

“The more places there are to easily use your digital products, the more you value them, which creates a bigger market for creators. The easier the transaction, the greater the opportunities these will also be”, she underlined.

Finally, he has announced that from Meta they are “wanting to develop this”, although he has not said more details about the point in which this process is.
