Huawei will make itself known with a new smartphone after a while, with a straightforward stylish jigsaw puzzle. This is a model Huawei Mate Xs 2, which follows the two-year-old Xs model. Unlike last year’s Mate X2 model, it retains its design with a display on the outside that extends across the side of the phone. This is generally a slightly less durable solution than a panel hidden inside, but the company reportedly improved the design and joint for longer life. At the same time, the device managed to lighten it by almost 50 grams against its predecessor.

The Huawei Mate Xs 2 follows a two-year-old model, even with a design with an external display.

The OLED display used has a 7.8 ”diagonal in the open state at a resolution of 2,480 × 2,200 pixels at a high refresh rate of 120 Hz. In the closed, the front side corresponds to a 6.5 “diagonal with a resolution of 2,480 × 1,176 pixels. Huawei also boasts a more durable cover layer, which should better protect the panel.

The external display also has its advantages

In terms of equipment, there is last year’s top in the form of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, but due to the restrictions associated with Huawei, the chip is only in the 4G variant. It is then supplemented by 8 or 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. The endurance is taken care of by a battery with a different capacity, namely 4,600 mAh in the version with 8 GB RAM or 4,880 mAh in the case of the 12 GB variant. In both cases, it supports fast 66W charging.

The camera is triple, with a resolution of 50Mpx at the main sensor, 13Mpx ultra-wide and 8Mpx telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. There is even optical stabilization. The advantage of the flexible display on the outside is that it can also serve as a camera viewfinder on the back when shooting. This will be used mainly by those who will want a better alternative to the front 10Mpx camera in the display.

The phone will come to the market with the HarmonyOS 2 operating system, and so far it is expected only in China, where it will start at a price of 10,000 yuan (approximately 43 thousand CZK) in the basic version, or it can climb up to 13 thousand yuan (approx. 56 thousand CZK). We do not yet have any information about whether and when it will reach us.
