At least three people were killed today in an attack in the central Israeli city of Eland, as the country celebrates the 74th anniversary of the founding of the Jewish state, a day that coincides with the end of Eid al-Fitr Muslim celebrations.
A fourth person, victim of the attack, is being treated in critical condition, according to the Israeli first aid service, Magen David Adom.
Police said the incident appeared to be a terrorist attack.
The mayor of Greece, speaking on Channel 12 of Israeli television, called on residents to stay inside their homes while security services operate in the area.
There have been bloody attacks in Israel in recent weeks and violent clashes between Palestinian and Israeli police.
