Laughter for the "reds" from Mitrovic's team

Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League opener. Mitrovic scored two goals for Marco Silva’s team, Nunes had a goal and an assist on his debut in the English league.

Fulham shocked Liverpool in their Premier League opener, with the two teams drawing 2-2. A big star for Marco Silva’s side is Aleksandar Mitrovic, who continues to score in the Premier League after a stunning season in the Championship last year, which saw him hit 43 goals in 45 appearances.

The Serbian forward scored both goals, one in each half, in a dream start to the season. Darwin Nunez also got off to a good start in the Premier League, scoring the first goal and assisting Salah’s goal, coming off the bench.

The match

Fulham entered the match stronger and had their moments to find the goal in the 32nd minute. Marco Silva’s men developed nicely from the right. Tete curled in a superb cross from the right at the far post and the Serbian striker deftly beat Arnold in the air to head the ball into the net.

Liverpool took control of the match after the 15th minute. In the 39th minute, he came very close to leveling the game, but Diaz’s shot from inside the area hit the crossbar.

The reds leveled the match in the 64th minute, with Nunez scoring a stunning goal. Salah broke into the area from the right and turned the Uruguayan forward with an excellent back-heel to send the ball into the net with a stunning shot.

Eight minutes later the Londoners regained the lead. Mitrovic won a penalty after being flagged down by Van Dijk, with VAR upholding the referee’s decision. The Serbian forward took over and although Alisson got down well he was unable to save the goal.

Liverpool however managed to level the game again with Salah and Nunez “striking again”. This time the Egyptian midfielder was the anointed scorer and saved the game for Liverpool. In the finale, Klopp’s players tried to achieve a total reversal, but to no avail.
