Meta: company will launch a "metaverse academy" in France

Goalparent company of Facebook, and Simplon, a higher school of digital studies, will launch in France at the beginning of the 2022 academic year an “academy of the metaverse”, both organizations announced in a joint statement on Sunday.

The metaverse, which is considered by technology giants as a great technological leap in the evolution of the internet, is an immersive digital universe based on augmented reality and virtual reality that seeks to transform the web into a three-dimensional experience.

This school will be “free, territorial, innovative” and geared towards employment, Laurent Solly, Meta’s vice president for Southern Europe, told AFP.

“Our goal is to train a hundred students the first year in two trades of the metaverse. The first is that of a developer specialized in immersive technologies and the second as a support and assistance technician, ”he added.

In October 2021, Meta announced its intention to create 10,000 jobs in Europe in the next five years to build the metaverse, which is the new strategic priority of the American group.

This objective should make it possible to respond to the future demand of companies seeking skills and trades linked to the metaverse.
