The speaker of the Russian Duma today accused Washington of coordinating military operations in Ukraine, which, according to him, is tantamount to direct US involvement in military action against Russia.
“Washington is effectively coordinating and developing military operations, so it is directly involved in military action against our country,” Vyacheslav Volodin wrote in his Telegram account.
Volodin is a well-known supporter of what Moscow calls its “special operation” in Ukraine.
He said foreign advisers had been working in Ukraine since what he called a “coup”, in an apparent reference to the 2019 presidential election of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Washington and European NATO allies have supplied Kyiv with heavy weapons to help repel the Russian attack, which has led to the occupation of parts of eastern and southern Ukraine, but not Kiev.
However, the United States and its NATO allies have repeatedly stated that they will not take part in hostilities themselves in order not to take part in the conflict.
