The lights are on tonight (19:30) in Rizoupoli

Two games before the end of the Play Out of the Super League and the interest is focused on which team from Lamia and Apollon Smyrni will drink the “bitter glass” of relegation and which will have a second chance. The match at “Georgios Kamaras”, today (Saturday, May 7), may answer the questions.

The interruption, due to Easter, to Apollo of Smyrna was not good. The “Light Brigade” suffered a heavy defeat by Ionikos in Naples (5-1), ending an unbeaten streak of three games that had brought it seven points and -1 from the penultimate Lamia. Which, in turn, overcame the exclusion from Panathinaikos in the semifinals of the Cup and returned to success with the 2-0 win over Asteras in Tripoli. With a four-point lead, Gianluca Festa’s team can afford to play for two results. On the contrary, for Babi Tenne, victory is one way. In the last match (Sunday 15/5), Apollon Smyrnis travels to Tripoli while Lamia welcomes Atromitos.

The rest of the clubs participating in the Play Out are essentially motivated by the prestige first. Most trained of all is Ionikos who maintains the undefeated record in the mini championship, with a record of four wins and a draw. Dimitris Spanos’s team goes to neighboring Peristeri for the match with Atromitos, who with an excellent demarcation (two wins and three draws in the Play Out) under the guidance of Chris Coleman – who renewed his contract – ensured stay in the category .

Panaitolikos and NPS Volos, which are competing in Agrinio, are equal. The Agriniotes got their first victory in the Play Out with the 1-0 against OFI in Crete, as they had been preceded by three consecutive defeats and a draw. Giannis Anastasiou is already making his plans for the new season, as well as in Volos, where the clearing of the roster has begun. Those who remain, however, are fighting it, as evidenced by the 1-3-1 record in the mini championship.

In “Theodoros Vardinogiannis” (Sunday 8/5), OFI will try to get its first victory in the process and, at the same time, if the other results favor it, to “capture” the lead. However, the team of Nikos Nioplias got only one point in its three most recent games. Not that Milan Rastavac’s is doing better – just two in her last four games. In the normal course of the season, however, Arkades did not concede a goal from the Cretans (1-0 in Tripoli, 0-0 in Heraklion).
