TikTok: employee recordings would reveal that China accessed US data

TikTok reported a few days ago that it had completed the migration of its US user data to servers in Oraclemessage with which it was intended to give a part of tranquility for Internet users.

However, a report based on leaked audio of the meetings of TikTok would be confirmed that some of the data of American users is reviewed from China.

According to BuzzFeed News, there are a total of 14 statements from nine different TikTok employees, where they confess that the engineers in China had access to US data between September 2021 and January 2022.

”Everything is seen in China”, said a member of the TikTok Trust and Safety department in a September 2021 meeting, the same outlet added. There would be recordings of small group meetings, general policy presentations, and this would be corroborated by screenshots and other documents.

The concern, according to Adam Segal, director of the Cyberspace and Digital Policy Program at the Council on Foreign Relations, who was interviewed by the aforementioned outlet, is that with these leaks a Chinese employee could share that data with a Chinese intelligence agency, putting Americans on the alert.
