Vivo continues to build its reputation as a manufacturer of quality photomobiles and has once again joined forces with the Zeiss brand. The new Vivo X80 Pro was introduced in China a few weeks ago, but only now has it reached its European premiere. Thanks to Zeiss’ continued partnership, the focus is clear – with new cameras and it wants to push the quality of mobile photography a little further.

The phone didn’t change much in terms of the previous X70 Pro model, again the giant camera module on the back dominates.

The design side of the phone is a pleasant evolution of the previous model. Again, the camera’s giant ceramic module on the back and frosted glass, which is pleasant to the touch and has no fingerprints left, dominate. The sides are metal, so the phone provides sufficient durability, which will also support water resistance within IP68. The front side has a nicely rounded cover glass, which passes over the display slightly to the edges, which looks very effective after turning on the screen.

The display itself is 6.78 “LTPO AMOLED with QHD + resolution and mainly 120Hz refresh rate, its maximum brightness of up to 1500 nits is also great. This is useful both when used in direct sunlight and when watching HDR content.

Lots of power and a large reader in the display

The equipment here is uncompromising thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, which complements it with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. A powerful battery with a capacity of 4,700 mAh and support for fast charging with a power of 80 watts will also be suitable for this. Even 50W wireless charging is supported.

The phone boasts a large portion of performance

The equipment also includes a large ultrasonic fingerprint reader in the display, which offers an unusually large area to place a finger to unlock the phone. Plus, it’s lightning fast.

Sample photos

However, the four-fold camera with Zeiss optics, including its anti-reflection coating, has the main say here. The main camera has a resolution of 50Mpx with an excellent aperture, which is followed by a 48Mpx ultra-wide and 12Mpx portrait lens with gimbal stabilization for better portrait photos. The four is closed by an 8Mpx telephoto lens with up to 5 × optical zoom.

There will also be iconic photographic styles from Zeiss for portrait, cinematic bokeh video mode with a film aspect ratio of 2.39: 1 and, of course, natural color mode. The photo technology and software are then closed by the Vivo V1 + chip for image processing.

The operating system here is FunTouchOS 12 built on Android 12 with a lively design and hilarious widgets. The system is well-tuned, but the manufacturer has still not got rid of some inaccurate translations in Czech, which we have blamed on it in the past.

The FunTouchOS 12 environment is relatively clean and well-tuned, but it still hasn’t gotten rid of some failed translations in Czech.

Overall, however, it is an uncompromising phone with an excellent camera and equipment for demanding users. Unlike its predecessor, we can look forward to it on the Czech market. It will start selling on June 23 for 27,000 crowns, exclusively in the black Cosmic Black variant.
