Asus VivoBook 15 laptop review. Great OLED for twenty thousand

If you are looking for a laptop with a great display at a reasonable price, you might be interested in last year’s VivoBook 15 from Asus. A variant labeled KM513 is currently available at for CZK 11,990.

It is a 15.6″ model with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px and an OLED panel that has perfect contrast and very good color rendering. Even the standard brightness of 400 nits with HDR support (up to 600 nits in the peaks) is above standard in the given class.

In VivoBooks, you can often find processors from Intel, but here the economical six-core Ryzen 5 5500U with sufficiently powerful integrated graphics is used even for basic gaming. Only 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB SSD can be a bit limiting, but the memory can be doubled with the help of a module and the storage can be replaced with a larger one. The body also has space for a 2.5″ drive.

The notebook has a backlit keyboard with a number pad, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, an HD webcam, a microSD card reader, HDMI 1.4 and four USB. Of which one USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, one USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 and two USB-A 2.0. Unfortunately, it cannot be charged with a label, a classic pin is used for that. The system is Windows 11 Home.
