A service provider was arrested in the act after preventing a transsexual woman from using a chemical toilet on Saturday (19), at the Osmar circuit, in Campo Grande. Police officers assigned to the Specialized Service for Respecting Vulnerable Groups and Victims of Intolerance and Racism (SERVVIR) arrested the suspect for the crime of transphobia.

According to information released by the Bahia Public Safety Secretariat (SSP-BA), the victim even presented documentation to the suspect, but was still prevented from using the bathroom.

Legislation

In June 1919, the Federal Supreme Court classified the crimes of transphobia and homophobia as criminal types provided for in the Racism law.

Recently, the law was modified, highlighting Article 20, which considers as discriminatory any attitude or treatment given to people or minority groups that may cause embarrassment, humiliation, shame, etc.
