Sex And The City author Candace Bushnell says HBO Max reboot will work ‘fine’ without Kim Cattrall

Sex And The City is getting a reboot on HBO Max but without original star Kim Cattrall.

Cattrall, who played the man-eating Samantha on the hit series, declined to participate in the new show that will reunite Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.

And author Candace Bushnell, who wrote the book on which the TV show was based, told PageSix.com that the reboot titled And Just Like That… will work just fine without Cattrall.

Bushnell said she’s sure the writers of the reboot will have plenty of ideas to work from.

‘You know what, I think it’s fine,’ she told the outlet.

‘I also think it will be interesting…. there’s a lot of interesting characters like Miranda. We are all Mirandas. Miranda is an interesting character but I don’t know what they’re gonna do.’

Bushnell added: ‘Samantha is always going to be an inspiration to them… So somehow, I imagine she’ll be there in spirit and as an inspiration that gives them a chance of exploring sexuality with different characters.’

Variety reported on Monday that Parker, Nixon and Davis will each earn more than $1 million per episode to reprise their SATC characters on the subscription streaming service.

They will also serve as executive producers on the 10-episode run.

The HBO Max series will follow the trio as they navigate love and friendship in their 50s.

Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max said: ‘I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor and the beloved city that has always defined them.’

Cattrall, who starred in all six seasons of the HBO series as well as two movies, had a falling out with Parker whom she has claimed ‘could have been nicer’.
