Slavisa Jokanovic is no longer the coach of Sheffield United, Beerschot’s English sister club.
The Serb only arrived at the relegated Premier League this summer, but was never able to live up to expectations. He was regularly at loggerheads with the board and with Sheffield United remained well below expectations in the competition. The aim was to make another shot at promotion to the Premier League, but Sheffield United are currently only sixteenth in the Championship with 23 points from 19 games.
Jokanovic will be replaced by Paul Heckingbottom, who was also allowed to break in the Premier League last year after the departure of coach Chris Wilder. The 44-year-old Heckingbottom comes definitively from the promises this time and signed a contract as head coach until mid-2026.
