A demonstration to say the least: Aleksandr Vlasov degrades the opposition and wins the Tour de Romandie


Aleksandr Vlasov (BORA-hansgrohe) has won the 75th edition of the Tour de Romandie (WorldTour). The Russian managed to double on Sunday thanks to a win in the fifth and final stage, an individual climbing time trial.

Vlasov, 26, completed the 15.84 km between Aigle and Villars in 33:40. He was 31 seconds faster than the German Simon Geschke (Cofidis). Swiss home rider Gino Mäder (Bahrain-Victorious) was third at 0:36. The rest took at least one minute longer to complete the time trial.

Australian Rohan Dennis (Jumbo-Visma) started the time trial as leader but fell through the ice. He finished eighth in the final standings at 1:54. Vlasov was joined on the final podium by Mäder (second at 0:50) and Geschke (third at 0:55).

Vlasov succeeds the Welshman Geraint Thomas on the honors list in Romandie. The Russian also won the Tour of Valencia this season, ahead of Remco Evenepoel.
