CSKA captain Igor Akinfeev is not going to end his professional career in the next two years. About this he declared Match TV.
According to the 36-year-old goalkeeper, Spartak defender Georgiy Jikia invited him to a training session at the Medialiga club he recently created. “I wish success to both the league and the teams, but I don’t have a goal to join them yet. I want to play big football for a year and a half or two years. But Zhora promised that when I had time, I would come and see all this kitchen, ”said Akinfeev.
The player noted that he still feels young. “In my heart, I’m probably 22–25, but from training and some exercises, taking into account injuries, I already understand that this is not so. Otherwise, everything is fine – still good, ”added the goalkeeper.

In May, Akinfeev extended his contract with CSKA until the end of the 2023/24 season.
Akinfeev is a graduate of the CSKA Academy, in which he has been studying since the age of four. For the main part of CSKA, the goalkeeper made his debut in 2003. As part of CSKA, Akinfeev won six Russian championships, six Russian Cups, seven national Super Cups and the UEFA Cup. Akinfeev is a ten-time winner of the Lev Yashin Goalkeeper of the Year prize, which was awarded by Ogonyok magazine to the best goalkeeper of the season.
