France debuted in the World Cup in Qatar 2022 with a 4-1 win against Australia in Group D and the current planetary champion begins with three points and defeated the defense of the crown achieved in Russia 2018.

The French goals came from Adrien Rabiot (26′), a brace from Olivier Giroud (31′ and 70′) and Kylian Mbappé (67′), this after Craig Goodwin’s Australian goal (8′).

With this, Mbappé reaches five goals in the World Cup after scoring against Peru in the group stage, two against Argentina in the round of 16 and another against Croatia in the Russia 2018 final. Varsky Sports revealed a statistic that puts the Frenchman above Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, surpassed in history only by Pelé, Mario Alberto Kempes and James Rodríguez.

“Only Pelé (7), Kempes (6) and James Rodríguez (6) scored more World Cup goals than Kylian Mbappé (5) before his 24th birthday. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo had only one before that age”, published Juan Pablo Varsky.

On the other hand, the statistician MisterChip stated that “Kylian Mbappé becomes the French player who has taken the least time to score a goal and give an assist (227 seconds) in the entire history of the World Cup”.

The French team and Kylian Mbappé will return to action next Saturday, November 26 against Denmark and then face Tunisia on Wednesday the 30th of this month.
