Axel Witsel is in his last weeks at the German top club Borussia Dortmund, the Red Devil confirmed on Saturday after the surprising home defeat against Bochum (3-4).

“We are conceding too many goals and that will have to improve next season,” said Witsel. “I’m talking about ‘we’, but I won’t be here next season.”
It had been clear for some time that the contract of the 33-year-old defensive midfielder at the Borussen, which expired at the end of this season, would not be extended. Sky already came up with the news at the beginning of last month, but there was no confirmation as yet.
Witsel made the switch from China’s Tianjin to Borussia Dortmund after the 2018 World Cup. The Belgian played more than 100 league matches for Dortmund, scoring ten times. His future plans are not yet known, although a move to North American Major League Soccer (MLS) could be a possibility.
