The Real festival started in the 13th minute with a goal from Ferland Mendy, served deep by Luka Modric, then Benzema followed up with a header in the 19th, before Rodrygo (34th) and Vinicius (45th), served by Modric, do not widen the gap just before half-time.
Vinicius sealed the victory for the freshly won Spanish champions in the second period (68th), at the conclusion of a superb job by Benzema, then offered himself a hat-trick in the 84th, celebrated with the legendary celebration of Cristiano Ronaldo.
A demonstration that propels Benzema even more as the grand favorite for the Ballon d’Or, awarded in September or October. After overtaking legends Carlos Santillana (290 goals) and Alfredo di Stéfano (308 goals) this season, ‘KB9’ have joined Raul with this goal, but are still far from Cristiano Ronaldo (451).
His goal nonetheless sparked chants of “Karim Balon de Oro!” (“Karim, Ballon d’Or” in Spanish) in the stands of the Santiago-Bernabéu.
Levante, return to Segunda
The French international center-forward, however, is by far the top scorer in La Liga with 27 goals and 11 assists in 31 matches, and is in the running to win his first “Pichichi” trophy in Spain. He has 44 goals and 14 assists in 44 matches in all competitions in 2021-22.
Also note the recital of the Croatian leprechaun Luka Modric, Ballon d’Or 2018, who delivered three delicious assists from the height of his 36 years. And he was still at the base of the action of the fifth goal, to throw a perfect ball deep to Benzema.
For Levante, on the other hand, it is a shipwreck: the “Granotas”, who made a guard of honor in tribute to the very recent champion of Spain for his first match in his stadium since his coronation, clearly lost all motivation as the goals conceded, which brought them inexorably closer to the second division.
Levante will therefore be residents of Segunda next season, for the first time since the 2016-2017 season, where they had made the elevator to immediately go back to La Liga.
Manita also for Villarreal
Earlier on Thursday, Real Sociedad saw off Cadiz 3-0 to secure their ticket to Europe, while Villarreal crushed Rayo Vallecano 5-1 in the capital.
The Basque club, 6th with 59 points, and the “Yellow Submarine”, 7th three points behind, will fight a distance battle over the last two days for a place in the Europa League. The 7th ranked team will qualify for the Europa League Conference.
Cadiz, on the other hand, is getting dangerously close to the red zone: two lengths separate it from Mallorca, the first relegated (18th, 33 pts), and the Cadiz formation will receive none other than Real Madrid, Sunday at 7:30 p.m. for the penultimate league day.
