Benzema hunts down Raúl and is already the second top scorer in the history of Real Madrid

Benzema continues to brighten a season that is consecrating it as one of the great legends of Real Madrid and one of the best scorers in its history. His goal against Levante at 19 minutes is already part of the club’s goalscoring legend.

After overcoming Di Stefano on March 9 with his Historic treble against PSGthe white number 9 equals with his goal against Levante the 323 goals from Raúl to become the second top scorer in the history of Real Madridsecond only to Christian (451). With his next target he will be alone and only the unattainable Portuguese star will be ahead of him. In the league, Benzema scored 219 goals and is still ahead of Raúl (228) and, of course, Cristiano (312).

At 34 years old, far from losing punch, Benzema goes further in his scoring figures. And it is that the white striker is pulverizing all his goalscoring records. Karim has already 44 goals in 44 games (27 in the League, 15 in the Champions League and 2 in the Spanish Super Cup) and far away are the 32 goals that until this season was his best scoring record in a campaign, a figure he reached twice: in 11-12 and in the 20-21. A record-setting Karim aiming for the historic bar of 50 goals that only Cristiano, Messi, Luis Suárez or Lewandowski have reached in this century in the big leagues.

Benzema wears 425 career goals (323 with Real Madrid, 66 with Olympique Lyon and 36 with France), which makes him the highest scoring French player in history, leaving behind Thierry Henry’s 411.

Road to 400

To mark your first 100 goals in white, Benzema took 5 years and five months. He debuted on August 29, 2009 and was centenary on January 18, 2014 against Betis. On November 7, 2018, against Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League, Benzema reached the 200 goals with Real Madrid (specifically the 201 after his double that night). Four years and 10 months it took for that second centenary. Just three years and two months after reaching 200, Karim reached the historic barrier of 300 points as a madridista after his brace against Valencia on January 8. Now he walks through the 323.
