Ceará drew 1-1 with Goiás, in Serrinha, this Sunday afternoon (12), in a match valid for the 11th round of the Brasileirão. Vozão took the lead with Steven Mendoza, with a header, but saw the hosts equalize the score, with Pedro Raul, in a penalty kick. The result keeps the team from Ceará in 12th place in the table, with 14 points gained.

In the away match, Alvinegro was led by interim Pedro Sotero. But, it will have a new commander in the next round, filling the vacancy left by Dorival Jr. Around two hours after the tie in Goiânia, the Club officially announced the hiring of coach Marquinhos Santos. The publication on social networks only informs that he and his technical commission arrive in the capital of Ceará on Tuesday (14).

Marquinhos started the season ahead of América-MG. With him, Coelho won the unprecedented classification to Libertadores, after finishing last year’s Brazilian Championship in eighth place. It passed through the Pré-Libertadores with two exciting classifications and reached the group stage. But it ended up falling after defeats to Independiente Del Valle in the South American competition and to Avaí, in the debut for the Brasileirão. In the Campeonato Mineiro, he failed to advance to the semifinals and was defeated in the final of the Troféu Inconfidência, by Tombense.

The 43-year-old coach arrives to fill a gap left by Dorival, who was doing a good job and transferred to Flamengo. Enderson Moreira, Abel Braga, Fábio Carille, Odair Hellmann and Sylvinho were previously on the Board’s agenda. The former captain of Corinthians was the closest to landing in Ceará. Vozão’s next challenge will take place on Wednesday (15), at 7pm, against Atlético-MG, at Castelão.
