Until the World Cup and the reunion with Germany, Costa Rica coach Luis Fernando Suárez wants to make his team even stronger.

Ar-Rayyan – “You won’t see this team, you will see another team,” he announced after reaching the finals of the FIFA World Cup.

It was only with a lot of luck and effort that the team of the 62-year-old native of Colombia won 1-0 against New Zealand in the intercontinental playoff match at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Ar-Rayyan and thus bought the 32nd and last free World Cup ticket .

Costa Rica will play in Group E with Germany, Spain and Japan. “I hope that we will be a different Costa Rica, a stronger Costa Rica,” said Suárez.

The team from Central America will play Hansi Flick’s team in the final group game on December 1st. 16 years ago, Germany had won the opening match of the home World Cup 4-2 against Costa Rica in the only duel so far.

The current team around veterans like 36-year-old Bryan Ruiz in midfield or Keylor Navas in goal, who turns 36 14 days after the Germany game, should form the basis for the World Cup squad. Talent and teenager Jewison Bennette should also play an important role in this. A few hours before his 18th birthday this Wednesday, he had some strong scenes in the 45 minutes of action in the first half and set up Joel Campbell’s goal in the third minute. dpa
