The Portuguese football player of Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo, was the first in the world to overcome the mark of 500 million subscribers on the Instagram social network (owned by Meta Platforms, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow recognized the company as extremist and banned its activities).
Only the official account of the social network itself has more subscribers (570 million). Argentine footballer Lionel Messi has 376 million followers.
In February 2021 Ronaldo became the first person to gain 500 million subscribers on social networks Twitter, Instagram and Facebook (the latter also belongs to Meta Platforms, which was recognized as extremist in Russia and banned), and in October 2021, with a post about the pregnancy of his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez, he broke the record for likes (more 27 million).
