Former Spartak football player Viktor Samokhin has died at the age of 66. About it reported on the club website.

Samokhin played for Spartak from 1974 to 1981, he scored 224 matches and three goals. The defender became the champion of the USSR in 1979, the silver medalist of the USSR championship in 1980 and 1981, the winner of the tournament of the first allied league in 1977 and the Spartakiad of the peoples of the USSR in 1979.

From 1982 to 1985 he played for CSKA, in 1987 he moved to Hungary, where for the next five years he played for the football team of the Southern Group of Forces. In 1991 he returned to Moscow, where he worked briefly at CSKA, but soon quit. In 1992, he was invited as a playing coach to the Sokol Saratov, due to an injury, he spent only one season there. In 1993 he worked as a playing coach in the Moscow club TRASKO.

Samokhin later worked on the coaching staff of Spartak (1996–2002), who won the Russian Championship six times in a row and won the Russian Cup in 1998. Since 2011, he has been working at the Spartak Academy named after Fyodor Cherenkov.
