England captain Harry Kane will undergo a right ankle scan on Wednesday. This is reported by various British media. The Tottenham attacker received a tap on the ankle in the opening match of the English on Monday against Iran (6-2 win).

Iranian defender Morteza Pouraliganji (ex-Eupen) hit Kane with a tackle in the fiftieth minute. He initially remained on the field and was only taken off by national coach Gareth Southgate fifteen minutes before the end. He seemed to stumble slightly.

Southgate was not worried afterwards. “Harry was able to continue during the match. We changed him in the slot because the score allowed it at the time.”

England can already secure a place in the second round if they win against the United States on Friday. At the moment it is assumed that Kane will just be in the starting line-up for that match.
