Everton defender Ben Godfrey was injured at the beginning of the match of the first round of the English Premier League (EPL) against Chelsea. About it informs press service of the Liverpool club.
The central defender suffered an ankle injury in the tenth minute of the match against London midfielder Kai Havertz. After the collision of the players, the chief referee Craig Pawson stopped the game for eight minutes. The 24-year-old defender was assisted on the field. As a result, Godfrey was loaded onto a stretcher, put on an oxygen mask and carried off the field. He was replaced by Mason Holgate.

Everton later reported that Godfrey was hospitalized. The severity of his injury has not yet been reported.
