F1: Pierre Gasly confirmed at Alphatauri for 2023

There is now no longer any doubt: Disappointed that Red Bull logically preferred to extend Sergio Pérez for two years rather than giving him a second chance, Pierre Gasly had hinted that he could look elsewhere. Mercedes possibly replacing Lewis Hamilton seemed the most serious lead. Supporting Lando Norris at McLaren could possibly be another. But in the end nothing will happen. The Frenchman has a Red Bull contract until the end of 2023 and he will have to respect it. His current boss at AlphaTauri Franz Tost cut the rumors short by announcing this afternoon in Montreal: “Pierre is doing a very good job for us. He will be a driver for Scuderia AlphaTauri in 2023.It’s 100% confirmed. He has a valid contract. There is nothing more to say.”

So we won’t add anything except that a career is often a question of good timing. And that of Pierre, like that of his friend Stoffel Vandoorne at the time at McLaren, was probably not the best. Nevertheless, he is still in F1, has a contract for next year, and a car capable of playing regularly in the points. And even to already win a crazy GP…
