VfB Stuttgart’s record at Bayern Munich is bad. In the Bundesliga there were only six wins and 36 defeats – VfB celebrated a great success on February 13, 1994 in the bitterly cold Munich Olympic Stadium. It was 3:1 on the lousy cold Sunday evening – the goals were scored by Guido Buchwald, Fritz Walter and Andreas Buck, Lothar Matthäus equalized for Bayern in between.

It was a special game back then, because Franz Beckenbauer celebrated his coaching debut at Bayern. The Kaiser had replaced Erich Ribbeck after a mixed preliminary round and should ultimately lead the record champions to the championship.
