The wife of the owner of the Moscow “Spartak” Leonid Fedun and a former member of the board of directors of the club Zarema Salikhova in an interview with “Sport-Express” suggested invite Sochi to the match for the Super Cup against Zenit.

“Of course, the sports principle is violated, this is the decision of the RFU with a stink. But what is a sporting principle compared to love and loyalty to your club and city?” – said Salikhova, commenting on the decision of the Russian Football Union to hold a match for the Super Cup in St. Petersburg.

She proposed to amend the regulations, according to which all matches for the Super Bowl would be played exclusively at the Gazprom Arena. “Therefore, the only right decision will be the Zenit superfinal – Dynamo St. Petersburg (aka Sochi), because this city is native for both teams,” she added.

The match for the Russian Super Cup between Spartak and Zenit will take place on July 9 in St. Petersburg at the Gazprom Arena (Zenith’s home stadium). The corresponding decision was made on June 10 by the RFU. Spartak, after the announcement of the final decision at the venue of the match, published in the Telegram channel a parody of the Internet meme “No one came to the fan meeting”, hinting that the team might boycott the game. Even before the announcement of the venue for the match for the Super Cup, Spartak offered to hold the game at the Moscow Luzhniki stadium and invite a foreign team of referees.

Football club “Sochi” was formed in 2018 on the basis of the St. Petersburg “Dynamo”. Last season, the club from Sochi took second place in the championship. The head of the RFU, Alexander Dyukov, said that if Spartak refused to play in the Super Bowl, then Sochi would replace him.
