The first five match days have already been leaked the day before the announcement of the competition calendar for the 2022-2023 season. There are immediately two toppers on the program: Standard-Gent is the opener of the competition on Friday evening 22 July, on Sunday 24 July Club Brugge will take on RC Genk in-house. KV Mechelen and Antwerp will have a déjà vu on 24 July: just like last year, red-white can immediately visit yellow-red. PhD student Westerlo will receive Cercle on 24 July.
The first five days of play:
You will soon be able to fill in your agenda for the coming year, because on Wednesday at 11 am the full calendar of the Jupiler Pro League and 1B for the 2022-2023 season will be announced. It is packed, because from November 21 to December 18, the World Cup will take place in Qatar. The result is that the first round of the first division will already be completed in mid-November, just before the World Cup. Just like the group stages of the European competitions.
The competition starts on the weekend of July 22. The last jump-off match of the play-offs is scheduled for the weekend of June 11 next year. There is therefore hardly a winter break: after Christmas football, clubs will only be free on New Year’s weekend.
