Former world darts champion 54-year-old Englishman Ted (Edward) Hankey has been sentenced by Chester Royal Court to two years in prison for raping a minor. About it informs Daily Mail.

In September 2021, in the city of Crewe, Hankey attacked a girl, who was reportedly between 16 and 18 years old at the time, pinned her to the ground and raped her. The victim went to the police a few days later, and Hankey was immediately arrested.

At first, he denied all accusations, but after it became clear that the crime had been caught on camera, he refused to comment further. On April 14, he admitted his guilt.

The victim stated that she developed post-traumatic disorder after Hank’s attack and suffers from panic attacks.

Judge Stephen Everett said that Hankey “would have denied everything to the very end” if the police had not had video evidence, and also that the dartsman treated the victim as “the object of his disgusting and deviant sexual desires.” The referee also expressed his belief that Hankey would never play darts again on television.

The publication notes that Hankey’s wife filed for divorce, and his children refuse to communicate with him.

Hankey won the British Darts Organization (BDO) World Championships in 2000 and 2009.
