Franco Armani's save show: confirmed his great moment in River and his call to the National Team

Frank Armani had a great night in Brazil again so that River can get a good result from their visit to Fortress. The goalkeeper had a Selection level and his performance It was very similar to those of Libertadores 2018 when the Casildense was key for Núñez’s team to obtain the title.

“They have a good game and the weather was heavy. When the rival comes on top of us, we have to put up with it, in the first half we had trouble but in the second half we settled in, we played in a different way and on the counterattack we had scoring options to win it. But it was tied and we are still up in the group. The important thing is that it was not lost.”he stated, once the game was over.

The Armani show in Brazil (where in 2018 he had also been a figure against Gremio and in 2019 against Cruzeiro) started after Fortaleza’s goal, in which the goalkeeper had nothing to do. Later, with great saves and a lot of personality, he closed his fence to pure technique and with many reflexes.

Armani’s first save came 25 minutes into the first half. Silvio Romero faced with a barrel included and enabled Lucas Lima, who tried to put Fortaleza ahead again. Nevertheless, Franco cleared the danger with his legs.

A minute later, Lucas Lima was the test again. He now rehearsed a left-footed shot, although with greater comfort. A shot that, again, the River goalkeeper deflected to the corner with an expeditious rejection.

At that point, River was beginning to show signs that defensively his night would not be entirely good. Something that Armani tried to correct from some shouts to coordinate departures and directives to captain Enzo Pérez to order the medium.

With Fortaleza attacking with a lot of people, Armani would shine again at 36 minutes. A play from the right to the center of the local team, with assistance from Hércules through, ended in a strong shot by Lucas Lima. And the santafesino saved a pure reflection.

And at the end of the first half there was one more, very difficult. Felipe headed in a Crispim cross from the right and Armani unfolded his arms to slap the ball and thus clear it to remove danger from the action.

Armani repeated his level in the second half. While he didn’t have to fly spectacularly to show off his talent, he did have leg speed to get to two dangerous Fortaleza heads-up first. And he even forced a failed definition of Depietri going out to cut quickly to avoid the second place.

At 35 years old, Armani is still in force. And not only River celebrates it. Also, Lionel Scaloni.
