Beerschot’s fourth summer purchase is also young and Belgian. The 22-year-old Bill Lathouwers will in principle sign a contract at the Kiel tomorrow. Lathouwers comes transfer-free from Waasland-Beveren, where he was third goalkeeper.

The great goalkeeper (1m92) signed his very first professional contract with Antwerp three years ago. He made the match selection at the Great Old exactly once: in the cup final that he won 1-0 against Club Brugge, he sat on the bench for Davor Matijas. Afterwards, Antwerp got two experienced goalkeepers with Jean Butez and Alireza Beiranvand, Lathouwers went to MVV.

A year and a half ago he returned to Belgium, more specifically to Waasland-Beveren. He played one game for that club, on the final day against Mouscron he got his chance. However, the club decided not to exercise the option in its expiring contract.

At Beerschot, Lathouwers has to compete with Mike Vanhamel and Antoine Lejoly.
