"I should have put 5": quips De Bruyne after his quadruple against Wolverhampton with City

“It was quite nice (as an evening). When you score four goals, it’s always special but I should have scored 5, honestly,” he said with a smile, referring to a strike from the left who hit the post, when the score was already acquired.

By scoring the first three goals and the last of his team, he allowed him to regain a three-point lead over Liverpool, with a better goal difference with two games remaining.

The Citizens seem unstoppable with 22 goals scored in their last five league days.

“I think we played well, apart from a few counterattacks (from Wolverhampton) in the first half, we controlled the game very well. We could have scored even more and done that against Wolves, who are very solid defensively, it was impressive,” admitted the Belgian.

He also returned to his hat-trick scored in 24 minutes, the 3rd fastest in Premier League history, and his left foot, considered his “weak” foot.

“As soon as you have the opportunity, you shouldn’t hesitate (to kick). My right foot is my best foot, but I’m never afraid to shoot with the left. Even if it doesn’t fit, it poses problems for the opponents because they won’t be as close to the mark anymore and there will be opportunities for passing through,” he explained.

De Bruyne also assured that his celebration after his third goal, hands spread wide in a meditative position, was not a conscious tribute to Norway’s Herling Haaland, who is set to join City next season and often celebrates his achievements in this way.

“I didn’t even know! I just did that because I had scored three goals,” he said.
