FIFA President Gianni Infantino delivered a speech against discrimination at a press conference on the eve of the opening of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“Today I feel like a Qatari. Today I feel like an Arab. Today I feel like an African. Today I feel gay. Today I feel disabled. Today I feel like a guest worker,” Infantino began his speech.

“I know what it means to be discriminated against… I was bullied because I had red hair,” added the head of FIFA.

Infantino also accused the Europeans of double standards. “Europeans have taught us many lessons. I am European. I think that for what we Europeans have been doing around the world over the past 3 thousand years, we should apologize for the next 3 thousand years before giving moral lessons to other people, ”he said.

“Who really cares about the workers?” asked Infantino. “FIFA, all football, the World Cup and, frankly, Qatar too. A few days ago I was at an event where we explained what we are doing at this World Cup for people with disabilities. Now there are 400 journalists here, and that event was covered by four. There are 1 billion people with disabilities in the world. Nobody cares. Four journalists,” said Infantino.

Qatar has been repeatedly criticized for the human rights situation and conditions for migrant workers during the construction of stadiums for the World Cup.

The final stage of the 2022 World Cup will be held from November 20 to December 18 at eight stadiums in five cities (Doha, Lusail, Al-Khaur, El-Wakra and Ar Rayyan).

In the opening match on November 20, the national teams of Qatar and Ecuador will play. The bookmaker’s office “Fonbet” accepts bets on the victory of the hosts with a coefficient of 3.00, Ecuador – 2.60, on a draw – 3.05.
