The inability to buy alcoholic beer in stadiums during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will not deter football fans. This was announced at a press conference on the eve of the start of the tournament by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

“Personally, I think that if you can’t drink beer for three hours a day, you will survive. There are similar bans in France, Spain, Scotland,” said Infantino.

FIFA announced the ban on November 18, two days before the start of the tournament. It was noted that this decision will not affect the sale of non-alcoholic beer at stadiums. And fans will be able to buy alcohol in the fan zones in Doha. Also, alcoholic beer will be available in the VIP boxes at the stadiums.

FIFA has a $75 million sponsorship deal with Budweiser. The Times notedthat such a decision could put him in jeopardy.

The final stage of the 2022 World Cup will be held from November 20 to December 18 at eight stadiums in five cities (Doha, Lusail, Al-Khaur, El-Wakra and Ar Rayyan).

In the opening match on November 20, the national teams of Qatar and Ecuador will play. The bookmaker’s office “Fonbet” accepts bets on the victory of the hosts with a coefficient of 3.00, Ecuador – 2.60, on a draw – 3.05.
